How Election Calms Future Anxiety: End From the Beginning

The ninth application is that election should transform our perspective on the future. We live in an age of climate anxiety, of political uncertainty, of economic threats. Many contemporary Christians are consumed with worry about what the future will bring. Divine election offers a different perspective. I know that God has determined the end from the beginning. I know that all things work together for good for those who love God. Therefore, I can face the future with hope, trusting that God is in control and that his final purposes will be fulfilled. The 10th application is that election should produce continuous praise when I truly understand that I am loved with an eternal love, that I was chosen by an infinite God before the universe existed, that I am sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that I will inherit eternal glory. I cannot help but praise. This praise is not merely emotional or superficial. It is an expression of my entire life. A worship that permeates every aspect of my existence. every aspect of my existence. For the contemporary Christian, divine election is a profoundly liberating truth. It frees us from anxiety about our salvation, from the pressure to merit God’s grace, from the need for human validation, and from fear of the future. It roots us in a true and deep identity as the beloved of God. It transforms us into people of humility, gratitude, hope, and praise. It empowers us to live lives of holiness, not from fear or obligation, but from love responsive to a God who loved us with an eternal love.
